Germination Policy

The promise

Every lot we sell was germination-tested by Jon Emery before it was packed. The percentage and test month on the product page are that test — not a supplier's certificate. Sprouting seed releases at 90% or better; garden packets at 85% or better.

If a lot underperforms

Follow the packet directions and store seed cool and dry. If a lot germinates well below its stated percentage under reasonable conditions, tell us within 60 days of purchase — include the lot number from the packet — and we'll replace it or refund it. We'd also genuinely like to know; a field report is a data point for the log.

The 5-month rule

Federal seed law requires germination tests to be current within 5 months for interstate shipment. We re-test any lot approaching that window; if a lot is out of window, it doesn't ship until it's retested.

What we can't guarantee

Yield, plant vigor, and harvest depend on soil, weather, and care — things no seed house controls. We guarantee the seed is what the packet says and that it germinates as tested.
